Box Technologies, a Total Solutions Provider in a diverse range of technologies and services, is delighted to announce that research agency and mystery shopping company Retail Eyes has deployed Motion Computing F5 tablet PCs across its organisation. Retail Eyes invested in twenty-four Motion F5 tablet PCs to help speed up and secure the audit process, as well as improve the effectiveness of audits by integrating digital photography as part of the process. The Motion F5s were supplied and supported by Box Technologies under the Box Mobile brand.

Retail Eyes searched for a mobile computing platform by looking for a best-of-breed tablet PC that could integrate its job-specific requirements, meet its demanding build quality needs, as well as run its custom auditing platform. The Motion F5 is a rugged and powerful tablet computer designed specifically for onsite professionals. It provides Retail Eyes’ auditors with new levels of robustness, power and flexibility and it’s packed with features that enable more effective and productive onsite auditing - such as an integrated digital camera along with built-in Wi-Fi and mobile broadband.

Retail Eyes increasingly found that completing compliance-led audits using pen and paper was time consuming, inefficient and susceptible to human error. Not only did auditors spend an unnecessarily long time completing reports onsite, but reports then had to be manually input into a custom computer program back at the office.

“We are extremely pleased with the Motion F5s and the operational improvements we’ve realised as a result of going paperless,” said Danny Tompkins, Product Manager, Retail Eyes. “The tablets are clearly designed for use onsite and in outdoor environments and adapt easily to our digital auditing workflows.”

The key challenge for Retail Eyes was choosing a rugged tablet PC with a large screen but one whose glass was designed to protect against accidents that cause display damage, such as drinks spillages. It needed a system designed specifically for field service - one that was robust enough for even the harshest and busiest mobile working environments including kitchens, bars and cellars. The Motion F5 was designed specifically for these types of working conditions and the view anywhere display ensures maximum performance in the full range of environments.

Due to the nature of its work environments, Retail Eyes needed a tablet PC with a sealed design which could be easily cleaned and disinfected with standard cleaners.

The tablet PC also had to be fully rugged yet lightweight because auditors complete reports while standing and walking, and the display needed to offer a bright viewing experience while being tough and scratch resistant. Another essential requirement was a built-in camera to provide images to reinforce messages, enhance attractiveness and illustrate specific points. The Motion F5 was the only tablet PC to meet all this criteria.

Dual-touch technology enables Retail Eyes’ auditors to take advantage of the natural gesture navigation features built in Windows 7 and its own re:view application. Optimised for digitiser pen and touch input, auditors can navigate both touch-enabled re:view and legacy programs with smaller targets that require the accuracy of pen input. For more flexibility, palm rejection technology distinguishes between intentional and false touch while stylus recognition enables the auditors to easily switch between input modes.

“Retail Eyes is a great example of how Motion tablets can be integrated across a variety of environments at the point of service”, said Dave Dooley, Sales & Marketing Director Box Technologies. “It’s exciting to see Retail Eyes using a mobile computing solution that’s as robust and reliable as its own software platform.”
