Nordic ID Morphic Launches with GPRS

Nordic ID, one of the leading European providers of mobile computers and handheld terminals presents a new version of its successful Nordic ID Morphic: as from now, the versatile mobile computer with its phone like intuitive user interface is also available with a GPRS data communication, GSM mobile phone functions and 2D imager.

Thanks to the GPRS/EDGE communication option, Nordic ID Morphic is able to exchange data witha host system in real time wherever a GSM network is available. This renders the usage of handheld devices flexible and very cost efficient. Nordic ID Morphic is particularly suitable for use in field service and in logistics.

In addition to wireless data transmission, this mobile computer can also be used for voice communication via GSM. Mobile phone functions will be available to users of Nordic ID Morphic via a new telephony application. As SMS service and voice messaging are possible, too, it will then no longer be necessary to carry an additional mobile phone.

As an alternative to the laser scanner, the new version of Nordic ID Morphic can also be equipped witha 2D imager capable to read two-dimensional barcodes. This allows forusing the handheld device in bookstores, pharmacies and in the healthcare and automotive industry. Moreover, the new device offers a free MicroSDHC slot besides the SIM card slot, providing users an additional memory space to cope withadditional large amounts of data or even multimedia requirements.

All Nordic ID Morphic versions feature Bluetooth, e.g. to allow a flexible connection of label printers. The mobile computers run the operating system Windows Embedded CE 6.0, they weigh less than 190 g and due to theirergonomic design they can be used withone hand while theirmobile phone like userinterface can be operated intuitively without any training or technical know-how. At the same time, the sturdy handhelds comply withall requirements of protection class IP54 and will survive a fall from a 1.5 m height onto a concrete floor.
