Success Stories : Fashion - High and Mighty

Epson a perfect fit for High and Mighty

Most of us recognise that the dimensions of the average woman are closer to Liza Tarbuck and Marilyn Monroe than Jodie Kidd and Kate Moss. However, it's only in the past decade or so, with stores such as Evans leading the way, that many high street chains have begun to develop fashion ranges for those who are shorter, taller or wider than the rest.

For many men too, finding clothes that are the right fit can be almost impossible, especially if the closest you get to a six-pack is in the supermarket drinks aisle. For such physiques - or for those who are much taller than average - stores such as High and Mighty, which has been operating in the market since the mid-1950s, are the perfect solution. With 29 stores throughout the UK, as well as a thriving mail order operation, High and Mighty is one of Britain's most successful men's clothing retailers and has been able to develop its own distinctive niche market.

Growth has not been confined to the UK, however, as the company also has European outlets in Germany, Holland and Belgium. These outlets have been integrated with High and Mighty's UK Head Office through a multi-currency IT system from Berkshire-based Futura Software, which ensures all High and Mighty stores benefit from reliable and efficient retail management. Each store is polled nightly using a high speed ISDN link. The software runs on a Box Technologies point of sale termial, while for receipt printing, Epson TM-T88II thermal printers were a natural choice due to their speed and reliability.

In fact, according to High and Mighty's IT Manager, Nigel Foster, the new EPoS system has performed "fantastically" for the company. "We’ve been very impressed: the printers are simple to use, thanks to the drop-in paper loading, there are no paper jams and we’ve spent virtually no money on maintaining them."

"The TM-T88II is the main workhorse in the system, as we use it to print receipts and inter-branch transfers," he continued. "The printers are so quick and efficient that we've also been able to introduce integrated EFT with no significant delay at the point of sale.
