Blenheim Palace is a monumental country house situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, home to the Spencer-Churchill family for the last 300 years. The palace is now open to the public, while also still remaining a family home. The uniqueness of Blenheim Palace along with its history has made it one of the most famous attractions in Oxfordshire.
Overview
Blenheim Palace required a robust mobile computing solution that would seamlessly integrate with its existing ticketing and admissions software to allow its staff to provide visitors with ticketing facilities, information, maps and images of the palace. The palace itself stands within a walled park of over 2,000 acres, so it was imperative that the chosen solution was able to communicate with the back-office server to manage the numerous and sometimes remote access points within the palace and its grounds.
Blenheim Palace purchased fourteen Motion Tablet PC's from Box Technologies in order to run Vennersys' VENPos ticketing and admissions system. Blenheim Palace selected the Motion Tablets for features including superior screen resolution, clarity, their rugged capabilities and ergonomic design adapted to the most challenging outdoor conditions. Another feature which attracted Blenheim Palace to the Motion Tablets PC's which was crucial to the success of the project was the ability to navigate the Palace's website and e-ticketing software while standing or walking.
