Northern Ireland Housing Authority adopts Motion F5 Tablets

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) is a non-departmental public body that looks after the housing responsibilities of 65 separate authorities in its role as Northern Ireland’s overall housing authority. The NIHE is also one of the province’s largest public sector organisations. With a budget of over £600m and a staff of over 3,000, the NIHE makes a substantial contribution to better health, education and wellbeing by providing 90,000 well-maintained modern dwellings. It also has a strategic responsibility for the private sector and research

Business Situation
The NIHE uses money from rents and public subsidies to finance new social dwellings and improve its own stock. The biggest challenges facing the NIHE is to provide enough social housing in the specific areas where it is needed, and at the same time provide high quality housing management services which satisfy rising tenant expectations while still meeting the demanding efficiency targets set by the government. To help manage and improve the efficiency of the huge amount of data collected as part of its House Condition Surveys, NIHE needed a highly mobile and rugged technology solution for managing its own portfolio and surveying those in the private sector for which it has a strategic responsibility.

Solution
The NIHE chose the Motion F5 rugged Tablet PC for its power, portability and durability. Twenty-five tablets were configured, deployed and supported by Box Technologies to improve the accommodation management process. The lightweight design, robust ergonomics and bright outdoor viewable screen made the F5 the perfect alternative to pen and paper.
